Why should you join the SPURS PTA?
People often ask why they should join the PTA, "what's in it for me" is a common interest.
With schools facing challenges like shrinking budgets and lack of educational equity, PTA is more important than ever.
Be a part of a powerful association that can advocate on behalf of children and educators at the local, state and national levels.
There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school.
·Discover Great Resources
The PTA offers a variety of programs designed for parents as well as students.
·Tap into a Network
PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport and discussing issues that are on your mind. You can share ideas, concerns, and experiences.
PTA can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s school.
By getting involved at your child’s school you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes. Local PTAs play an important role by supporting building improvements through advocacy and play an important role in fundraising for curriculum based programs and social events.
·Enjoy Substantial Benefits
Individuals and local units can take advantage of a host of benefits from PTA membership including discounts and offers from member benefits providers and sponsors, magazine subscriptions, leadership training, e-newsletters and much more.
What happens to the money?
A portion of your membership dues goes to the state PTA which enables us to be a part of the state-wide and National PTA, bringing us resources and the full backing of those organizations.
The rest stays within our school and along with money raised during the Fun Run and other activities, we are able to provide fun family events like Trunk or Treat, Holiday Movie Night, the Spring Carnival, and new this year an after-school program with Mad Science. We also help the teachers by providing books and needed items for their classrooms, we support the teachers with Teacher Appreciation Week and help to offset costs of field trips.
Without you, none of this would be possible!
